Kelly Railean, founded Railean Distillers and constructed the first and only distillery in the Houston / Galveston vicinity. As she was sailing the tropics, she stumbled across some of the best rum she’d ever tasted. No surprise, these rums were handmade in small batches, but not available domestically.
Family, friends and co-workers thought she was crazy to quit the rat-race and start up her own company; especially in a world monopolized by mass produced spirits companies, where very few woman have ventured. However, her fascination and passion for sailing, tropical islands, pirates, parrots (and of course rum); determined her destiny. Today, her dream of owning a rum distillery & making handcrafted rum has come true.

Railean White Rum
along the shores of Galveston Bay in San Leon, Texas. Once a stronghold for the swashbuckling pirate Jean Lafitte, today San Leon is a “small drinking community with a large fishing problem”. The area is also home to a thriving population of wild parrots called Monk Parakeets.
She uses only the highest quality ingredients and processes to produce ultra-premium, domestic rum. Premium, high-grade sugar cane molasses from the Gulf Coast, is fermented in stainless steel tanks before being transferred to a state-of-the-art copper still. RAILEAN Rum is handmade in small, single batches to assure the finest quality, and to be able to extract only the “heart of the spirit”. Her RAILEAN Texas White rum is distilled multiple times to produce a pure, smooth spirit, while the dark rums are aged in petite, new, double-charred, American oak barrels. Her RAILEAN Reserve XO dark rum is a blended rum, while the RAILEAN Small Cask Reserve dark rum is produced from select single barrels.

Kelly has created the first 100% Handmade Texas Rum and one of the first 100% domestically produced rums on the market today. Her goal is to produce small batches of handcrafted domestic rum spirit of superior quality and we think she has accomplished that goal. But don’t take our word for it, check it out yourself.
