Recently, our treasure hunt found us in the one and only Sin City, yep—Las Vegas, Nevada! The always highly anticipated visit to the desert area by Trop-rock icon Jimmy Buffett gave all the west coast Parrot Heads a gigantic let down when it was cancelled due to a scheduling conflict. It seems Jimmy pledged his allegiance to the newly renamed “Land Shark Lager” stadium (previously known as Dolphin stadium in Miami, FL). Apparently the deal he cut requires him to perform at the stadium for home games, which means all of the west-coasters were left without their Buffett-fix for the fall.
Well, in the true fashion of Parrot Heads, the Las Vegas Parrott Head Club (LVPHC) stepped in and would not leave any of those fans (who had already booked hotels and airfare) stranded. They rallied their troops, and organized not only a fantastic night of partying, but also a fund-raising event to benefit local foster kids. Who else but Parrot Heads could get the infamous Tommy Rocker to host, (and perform for!) such an amazingly, outstanding event?!
Of course, in the giving pirate spirit, there was no cover charge, and anyone and everyone was welcome to join in the hunt, official Parrot Head or not. Treasure hunters from Canada, Arizona, Utah, Oregon, California, and of course, Nevada joined in the party, and it was a great one! Thanks to LVPHC president Sherrie and all of the LVPHC members for this awesome precursor to the Meeting of the Minds, which takes place the first week of November. We can’t wait to see you all in Key West!
btw, Tommy Rockers is a great place to have some fun when you are in Vegas.
